A carefully planned portrait tattoo built around the details that make the subject recognizable.

A More Personal Way to Honour Your Subject

I begin by reviewing your reference image, intended placement, and the scale needed to preserve important facial details. From there, I shape the design for strong composition, readable contrast, and natural flow with your body. Layered shading creates dimension while keeping the portrait grounded in a realistic style.

The experience is focused and collaborative, with time given to discussing the reference and setting clear expectations for the finished piece. During the session, I work methodically through the major forms before refining texture, expression, and tonal transitions. The result is a portrait tattoo that feels personal, balanced, and thoughtfully constructed.

Ideal For

• Memorial and tribute portraits

• Family, partner, or personal portraits

• Realistic animal portraits

• Clients with a strong reference image

How It Works

1. Reference Review: We discuss the image, placement, scale, and overall direction.

2. Design Planning: I prepare the composition with realistic proportions and layered tonal structure.

3. Tattoo Session: I build the portrait gradually, refining shading and detail throughout the appointment.
